Referee Support Program
US Soccer Coachings Ron Marfil of the USSF and CYSA Referee programs serves as our referee support program manager. Ron comes with a wealth of experience and travels to our clients to deliver a course to help educate referees of all ages, experiences and organizations.

Ron has been a USSF referee for 25 years, 10 of which were at the state referee level.
As an instructor Ron has been with the USSF Referee instructor program for 16 years.
Amongst other things currently the longest continuing serving instructor in Dist 2 instructing the USSF grade 8 classes and has now licensed over 2500 referees from that course. Ron has also written and presented a large number of class room intermediate and advanced referee clinics and presented a number of referee field clinics
Currently the CYSA district referee mentor manager (6 years) which means being the mentor for referees on a one on one basis while also teaching leagues how to start/maintain a mentor program and train their mentor

Introductions and agenda –5 minutes
Before the match: 15-20 minutes
1) Referee required equipment

- Something to write with and something to write on

2) Checking fields and goals (remember a large number of kids have been killed by tipped goals in the last decade) ref step off center circle for 10 yard reference.
3) Pre-game meeting (includes a typed pregame I will give out)
- What is discussed
- Students will do a practice pre game
4) Optional things you can do
- Introduce yourself to coach, set the tone
- checking in players
On the field: 60 minutes
1) Start of play and ensuing infractions
- Infractions at kickoff (5-10)
- Free kicks/restarts
- Ceremonial kicks- Setting walls (15-20)
- Encroachment getting 10 and why
- Where to be-where is the action?

2) Fouls/foul recognition
